At-home gut microbiome test

Map your gut. Feed what you find.

Biom Atlas is a private at-home test for gay men. We use 16S rRNA sequencing to map the bacterial communities in your sample, then turn the results into clear, food-first guidance.

What It Is

Inside you lives an entire ecosystem — trillions of organisms that shape how you feel every day. Biom Atlas maps that hidden world and hands you the field guide to explore it.

Listen To Your Body

Reasons to get curious about your gut

Symptoms do not prove that your microbiome is “out of balance.” A test can show what was present in one sample and give you a useful baseline — not diagnose why you feel a certain way.

Recurring Bloating or Gas

Bloating, gas, and irregular digestion can have many causes. A microbiome test can provide a composition baseline, but it cannot diagnose the cause of symptoms.

Digestion That Reacts to Foods

Microbes help process parts of food, but intolerance can involve many other factors. Results offer context, not a verdict on any single ingredient.

Recently Took Antibiotics

Antibiotics can shift gut microbial communities. A later baseline can show what is present, without claiming to measure recovery or prescribe treatment.

Gut Discomfort Tied to Stress

The gut and brain communicate in both directions. Researchers study that relationship, but a stool test cannot explain stress-related symptoms on its own.

A New Digestive Baseline

If persistent symptoms follow an illness, speak with a clinician. A wellness test may add educational context, not replace medical evaluation.

Curiosity About a Baseline

You don't need symptoms at all — many people simply want a starting map of their microbiome to track over time.

Why Your Inner Ecosystem Matters

A thriving gut shapes how you live

Science continues to connect the gut microbiome to digestion, immunity, energy, and even mood. Understanding yours is the foundation for nourishing it.

~70%

of your immune activity is associated with the gut

A diverse microbiome is linked to a more resilient immune response throughout the year.

500+

species can call your gut home

Mapping who lives there is the first step to understanding your own inner ecosystem.

Gut–Brain

a two-way axis researchers study closely

The microbiome is connected to mood, focus, and how you handle daily stress.

How It Works

Use the prepaid return mailer to send your sample to the lab.

04

Read Your Field Guide

Receive a lab-grounded field guide to the organisms within you — which bacteria are thriving, where your ecosystem could use support, and simple, everyday ways to help it flourish.

In The Lab

How your sample is processed

We believe you should know exactly what happens between your home and your field guide. Here is how a Biom Atlas sample becomes a map of your inner ecosystem.

Collected at home

You collect a tiny sample yourself with a simple, guided kit — no clinic visit and no appointment. The kit is designed to keep your sample stable on its way back to the lab.

Processed at a research-grade core lab

Your sample is processed at a research-grade sequencing core lab — the kind of facility research teams rely on — rather than handled in-house.

Sequenced with 16S rRNA

At launch, the lab will use 16S rRNA sequencing to identify bacterial communities in your sample and report them primarily at the genus level.

A note on honesty: 16S rRNA sequencing is a well-established research method for surveying which bacterial communities are present in a sample. It is not a clinical or diagnostic test, and Biom Atlas remains a wellness and educational tool.

Beyond The Map

Your report doesn't stop at data

Once your biome is sequenced, your personalized report turns insight into action — with everything you need to start nourishing your inner ecosystem.

Microbiome Insights

Clear, lab-grounded readings of which microbial communities are thriving or quiet in your gut — and what the research says about each.
