No. Biom Atlas is a wellness and educational tool designed to help you understand the makeup of your gut microbiome. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. If you have medical concerns, you should consult a healthcare professional.

How do I collect the sample?

The kit includes a sterile swab and a preservation tube. You'll simply swab a small amount of toilet paper after wiping, swirl it in the preservation fluid, snap off the handle, and seal the tube. The whole process takes less than two minutes and is completely painless.

Is my data private?

Biom Atlas is pre-launch and is not yet accepting samples. Before collection begins, identity-linked records and lab results must live in a separate authenticated system, the lab must receive a specimen ID rather than your marketing profile, and any research use must require separate consent. We will publish final subprocessors, retention terms, and deletion rights before launch.

How long does it take to get results?

Our launch target is about two weeks from the time your sample reaches the lab. We will publish the final service window before orders open, and email you when your Field Guide is ready in the results portal.

What kind of sequencing do you use?

We use 16S rRNA sequencing to identify bacterial communities in your gut microbiome. This gives a clear, research-grade view of the bacteria present in your sample.

Do I get a single gut score?

Accepted Answer

Not yet — and that's deliberate. Your report shows your gut's composition: which bacteria are present, in what proportion, and how diverse the community is. We won't compress that into one number until it's validated against a method-matched reference cohort, because until then a single score would be a confident-looking guess. Composition now; the number when the evidence supports it.

What if my sample doesn't work?

We re-run it, free. Not every sample sequences cleanly the first time — low read depth or degraded DNA can put a result below our quality bar. If that happens, we ask for another sample rather than hand you a reading we don't trust. And if we can't give you a result we'd stand behind, you don't pay for a guess.
